Egg Drop Project in the 3rd Grade

Students in both 3rd grade classes shared their Egg Drop Challenge projects with families in the Morningside Room last Wednesday. Students were tasked with using simple machines like levers, pulleys, and inclined planes, to safely transport an egg from an elevated height back down to the ground.

The result was a variety of innovative designs that students worked together to create in their groups. Students had the opportunity to explain their design choices to the audience before they dropped their egg, and they also answered questions and received feedback from a small panel of teachers after the drop. Thank you to Ms. Lavin-Kurzyna for leading the students through such a successful project! View photos in the right-hand column.
